Nursing Applicants

Application Process for RN-BSN Students

Montclair State offers an RN to BSN and a generic BSN Nursing program. The BSN program is open to freshman applicants only. Please find information on how to apply as a freshman applicant here (link).

Who is an RN-BSN Applicant?

An RN-BSN applicant is someone who already holds, or will receive prior to the start of the term, the Registered Nurse credential through an accredited associate’s degree or nursing diploma program.

RN-BSN Application Requirements

In order to be considered for admission to the RN-BSN program at Montclair State University, you will need to submit:

Step 1
Online Application

A completed application.  After you complete the application, you will see instructions for paying the $65 non-refundable application fee (or submitting a fee waiver request). Then you will be able to submit your application for review.

Step 2
Transcripts

An official transcript from ALL regionally accredited colleges and/or universities and/or diploma programs previously attended.

An official high school transcript. All transfer students must submit an official high school transcript. This requirement is waived for applicants who have completed or will have completed an associate’s degree. (Students with fewer than 30 completed college credits may also submit SAT and/or ACT scores. Students submitting ACT scores only, must also have taken the optional writing portion or the scores will be deemed incomplete for the purpose of making an admissions decision.)

Step 3
If Desired, Submit Optional Supporting Documents

If you would like, you may submit an optional personal statement/essay. After you submit your application, you will see information and instructions for how to submit your optional essay. If you choose to write one, please focus your essay on why you are interested in furthering your education at this point in your career.

Applicants may also choose to send additional optional materials that could support their candidacy, such as letters of recommendation from academic and professional references.

Please send all documents and supporting materials to:
